But converting an existing router to a repeater will lessen your expenses. Steps that are provided by Netgear tech support, are given below :

Set up for the main router :

• First connect your computer and router using an ethernet cable and go to the dashboard of administrative setting using routerlogin.net or 192.168.1.1.

• The login page will open, enter the correct login credentials to this page.

• Now go to the “set up” option and choose “wireless setting”. From “wireless setting” write down network name, mode and channel.

• Enter security keys to all required places and thus enable WEP security.

• Then first press on “apply” button and next on the “save” button to make these changes effective.

 Set up for repeater :

• First connect this router to your computer.

• Then go to this router’s settings and change few parameters like mode, security, security, network name etc. Try to make an exact match between both routers’ parameters (copy the values from router1 to router 2)

• Now go for the maintenance tab. You will find the “Router’s status” option there. Note down the IP address that is there in the LAN port.

• Now deselect “Disable wireless client association”. Now enter the MAC address, IP address of router 1 (which you must have noted down) to router 2
